He is CEO and co-founder of Irys Technologies, a technology firm focused on cybersecurity, and CEO of Tech Bloc, the nonprofit driving innovation, economic development, and tech advocacy across San Antonio.
A son of South Texas, Beto’s commitment to public service was forged on the U.S.–Mexico border. He’s worked at every level of government, the Texas House, the U.S. Senate, the White House, and the Alamo Area MPO, on the policies that decide how communities grow.
He co-founded the Better Futures Institute and launched the Civic Tech Scholars program, directing more than $250,000 in scholarships and paid internships that connect students to careers in STEM and public service. He also serves on the national board of LiftFund, expanding access to capital for small businesses and entrepreneurs.
n 2025, as a first-time candidate, Beto ran a breakthrough campaign for Mayor of San Antonio, finishing third in a field of 27. He then founded Plan 210 PAC to fight for economic opportunity and inclusive innovation across the city.

Beto lives in Midtown San Antonio with his wife, Anna Fernandes, a tech executive and lawyer, their son, André, and their daughter, Alessandra. High school sweethearts, they share a love of food and community and are often found exploring and supporting local shops and restaurants across the city.
